
Mark Vandermyde is a classically-trained pianist and organist whose musical interests began migrating from Mozart to Miles Davis when he joined his junior high school jazz band. He studied music theory and composition at Harvard University, and currently enjoys composing and playing in a variety of styles. Mark has been a member of the blues band Terraplane and jazz groups The Incentives and Just Friends, and he performs regularly for various churches in the Twin Cities area. His favorite keyboard influences are McCoy Tyner, Ellis Marsalis, Jay McShann and Joey DeFrancesco. He has attended “master workshops” conducted by Ellis Marsalis, Benny Carter, and Billy Taylor.
